Restoration of films by Alexander Sokurov and other film projects
In 2010-2015 The Alexander Foundation has done a great job of restoring and producing representative DVDs of a number of films by Alexander Sokurov. This work contributed to the preservation of part of the director’s extensive filmography, since most of these films were recorded on Betacam SP tape, which has a short shelf life. Alexander Nikolaevich Sokurov took an active part in this work; he created new directorial versions of the films “Conscription”, “Stone”, “Save and Save”. These new versions, as well as the documentary “Conversations with Solzhenitsy”, exist so far only on the DVD of the Alexander Foundation. Unfortunately, they are not yet in open sale; We hope that in the future not only the most famous, but also less well-known works of the director will appear in the public domain.
In the course of this work, various films about films and compilation were created, including “Military themes in the films of Alexander Sokurov”.
Other film projects of the Alexander Fund: Romance of Elizabeth for the Pavlovsk State Museum Reserve, director E. Omelchenko; film installation “1812” for the Museum of the Patriotic War of 1812 in Moscow, E. Omelchenko; view film “Pavlovsk”.
